Batman

Built for maximum intimidation factor as well as functionality, the Batsuit is an imposing piece of technology. It's had many incarnations over the years, many of which are on display in the Batcave. The suit's current design favors stealth, and has a simple black and gray scheme, with a black bat motif in the center of the chest.

The costume consists of several pieces, the most important of which is the body suit, which is a black and steel gray color. It encompasses Batman's entire body up to the face, and its main function is to serve as full body armor. It is designed to protect Batman from both projectiles and piercing weapons.

The second most notable piece is the cape and cowl, which are made as one joined piece, a useful trait when Batman needs to use them as a decoy against enemies. They are both made from a deeply black, anti-reflective material. The cowl is molded to enhance Batman's natural features, morphing the human face into a terrifying visage full of feral ridges and deep set eyes. It ends in two pointy, ear-like pieces that complete the bat look, which also serve as radio antennae.

The scalloped cape along with the rest of the suit, is fire retardant. The cape itself has been given an extra coating to act as a last ditch fire shield in case of emergencies. It also has a built in frame of smart material that remains relaxed until triggered by a device in Batman's gauntlets. When activated the material stiffens into a wing shape so that Batman can glide.

The last parts are made up of his gauntlets, boots and utility belt. All three of these items have massive amounts of technology stored in them in different ways. The gauntlets, which are black and equipped with long, sharp ridges, contain part of Batman's communications systems. His boots, which are also black, are capable of employing traction spikes to allow him to better grip the sides of buildings when climbing. His utility belt is a muted gold; it carries a numerous and ever changing array of objects and technology that Batman may feel he'll need for the night.

The Suit:

• Is bulletproof, insolated, fire retardant, and acid resistant.
• Is capable of instituting a 'lockdown mode' if Batman is unconscious. It will emit a knock out gas and an electrical charge when tampered with.
• Has a built-in computer link in the cowl with a direct connection to the supercomputer in the Batcave. Communications go through this link as well. The cowl also has technology that allows for augmented hearing and vision, as well as the ability to view several different spectrums and identify certain chemical trails.
• Possesses a powerful wrist laser on one of the gauntlets.
• Has a weighted, tear and fire resistant cape that can be used for both combat and mobility, thanks to the special memory fiber it was constructed from.

Bruce has a wide array of technology available to him, both of his own invention and technology that he purchases from within the arms of Wayne Tech. The most recognizable of his tools is the batarang. There are many different subtypes that Batman utilizes, but the typical batarang is designed to work like a boomerang. They are razor edged and made from a powerful titanium alloy.

Batman's technological armory seems nearly boundless, but some of the more common things he carries are:

• Shriekers (Small metal balls that emit a high pitched frequency painful to some ears.)

Batman's utility belt holds a great deal of built in technology as well, such as anti-tamper measures that release a debilitating electric shock and a blast of knock out gas should someone try to force the belt open.

Flexicuffs - Batman prefers to use specially made flexicuffs over traditional metal handcuffs. Like handcuffs, flexicuffs usually go around the wrists, but they are made from a lighter, more flexible material. The flexicuffs that Batman uses are made from sapphire impregnated nylon overlaying a stranded-metal cable core. Only a diamond-edged cutting implement can sever these wrist-bands. This may seem like overkill until one considers Batman's usual array of super-powered opponents.

Suppression Droids - The droids are typically only reserved for emergencies. They superficially resemble Batman in a stylized design, and each have been painted in the same black, non-reflective, flame retardant paint that the Batmobile is. They are flight capable and fairly quick, but they are meant more for intimidation or distraction rather than full on combat. The droids can defend themselves to a degree, however. Each is capable of delivering an electric shock, which is typically non-lethal, but capable of reaching up to 70,000 volts when needed. They can withstand light gunfire, but are easily damaged by anything more severe. The bat-insignia on each of the droid's chests can become a search light, which can be useful in search and rescue situations.

Tracking Drones - These tiny drones are each no bigger than a golf ball. Each comes equipped with small, but powerful cameras capable of both live feed and local recording. The drones themselves resemble small, translucent bats, which fly nearly silently and can become nearly invisible when not in motion. Their cameras can detect infrared and heat signatures, and they are constantly streaming data to a side computer in both The Batcave and The Watchtower.

Scent Neutralizer - Many of Bruce's enemies have excellent senses of smell, so not only does this make wearing any sort of store bought cologne nearly impossible, but Bruce must find ways to disguise his natural scent as well, or risk someone like Killer Croc sniffing out his secret identity later.

Bruce has killed two birds with one stone by producing a special two part formula of his own. The cologne he wears as Bruce Wayne is distinctive. It smells leathery, and just a touch sweet, with notes that are almost peppery or herbal. When Bruce dawns the cowl to become Batman, special enzymes within the suit interact with substances in the cologne and his own sweat to render him nearly scentless. It took years to perfect, but so long as he remembers to spray himself sometime beforehand, he smells only like the suit.

This also has a fairly unsettling effect to those who rely upon their sense of smell. Batman has no scent. There's the scents of the chemicals and synthetic fibers from the suit, but nothing alive underneath it, lending to the feeling that Batman is something not quite human. Those like Superman, whose sense of smell goes far beyond the limits of even earth's most skilled noses, will likely still be able to detect the man beneath the suit, of course.
